What better way to celebrate your team pride than with a custom sports-themed renovation? After Ohio State’s thrilling victory over Michigan yesterday, I’m reminded of an exciting project I completed a couple of years ago: a spectacular Ohio State-themed bathroom in Sciotoville.
Sciotoville is a charming community tucked between Portsmouth and Wheelersburg, Ohio. My client, a devoted Buckeyes fan, had already transformed his garage into an impressive sports-themed man cave featuring a full bar, video games, multiple big-screen TVs, and a pool table. Adjacent to the garage sat an 8’x10′ room with a dirt floor—the perfect candidate for a matching sports-themed bathroom where family and friends could gather on game day.
The Transformation Process
The project began with a complete gut renovation. I installed floor joists and subflooring to create a solid foundation where none existed. After completing the necessary plumbing and electrical work, I added ceiling joists, drywall, and tile backer board to prepare the space for its final finishes.
The design showcases true Buckeyes spirit with gray tile extending halfway up the walls, complemented by Ohio State red paint above—a perfect representation of the team’s iconic colors. The bathroom features a modern neo-angle shower, toilet, and urinal, plus a stylish vanity and sink. To ensure endless hot water during those long game-day gatherings, I also installed a dedicated gas water heater exclusively for the bathroom.
